Sharing Spree gives users a daily deal website and a little more. The site works much like other daily deal sites. The user is notified of a new deal each day. They can choose to ignore it or purchase it and receive significant savings on the local business offering the discount. Sharing Spree encourages users to pass the deal on by awarding the referrer credits when someone they share a deal with makes a purchase. The user can spend their credits on a future Sharing Spree purchase. Sharing Spree also gives back to local communities through charity donations that are made each time a deal is purchased. The user is given the option of selecting a charity on their profile (which will receive all donations earned through their purchases). Business owners are also invited to submit a request to offer a Sharing Spree deal while non profit organizations can inquire about being listed as a possible charity to begin receiving donations.Show more screenshots »
Sharing Spree was created to provide small business owners with a better option when creating, managing and monitoring their email campaigns. The application currently offers a full spectrum of services to its users, which have grown to include over 73,000 clients.
Sharing Spree was founded in June of 2010. The website was intended to promote the concept of “buying, giving and living locally.” Sharing Spree brought users a number of daily deals from all manner of businesses, including bars, theaters, retailers, hotels, clubs, spas, salons, sporting events, classes and others. Today many users sign up for Sharing Spree as a way of saving money and giving some back to their favorite charities. Sharing Spree lists plans to open up to businesses and consumers in Seattle, Cleveland, Atlanta, Columbus, Philadelphia, Louisville, Memphis, Austin, Atlantic City, Spokane, Little Rock, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Knoxville, Charleston, Fort Worth, Lexington, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Chicago.
The Sharing Spree website has a very fun, trendy appearance highlighted in its vibrant color scheme. The playful logo compliments the sprawling cartoon-esque image of a cityscape dotted in hearts. The elegant navigation links just below the header help users learn about the site or locate current and past daily deals.
Signing up for Sharing Spree is very simple. A new user will find the sign up area right on the homepage, just under the navigation links. Two fields are present in the dark pink bar. The first asks the user for their email address. The second is a drop down box which asks the user to select their location. The only available options currently include Nashville and Portland. Users who live elsewhere may want to check back periodically because Sharing Spree plans to add a large quantity of popular cities in the future.
Sharing Spree is available to all users for free. There are no subscription fees and users are not charged to browse the site or sign up to receive daily deals. Of course that doesn’t mean there is no money to be spent. The amount the user spends depends entirely on their purchasing habits. Users are not required to make any purchases, but will be encouraged to through the daily deal system (after all, that is the entire purpose of Sharing Spree).
Sharing Spree is a resource for people who like to save money and donate to charities. It’s also a valuable option for business owners who are willing to offer a deep discount to get a little exposure through the site.
